This trip was just by chance, one of my office colleagues was browsing online and saw a great deal on Tiger Airways, it was an impulsive decision to buy that steal deal and here we were taking our second holiday trip of this year to none other than the Lion city, Singapore. There’s not much planning required for short trips except for the fact that always check the weather conditions before travelling so that you pack appropriately. Also when holidaying, make sure you travel with the best and safest sunscreen, moisturizer and toner. These are my most important and must have things in my vanity kit.

Here’s a cool tip to remember when you’re planning a trip to Singapore:-

  • Sentosa is full of fun and adventure, so always ensure that you spare 2 days of your entire trip for this place. This will give you time to explore Universal Studio, which is one full day activity and another one day to spend time at the beach and walk around the beautiful island.

The rains are very unpredictable here but they don’t last longer than 2-3 hours. My first day in Sentoza was spent on the beach just lazing around and enjoying the beautiful & serene nature. We also walked around the Island and explored lot of fun activities that included the famous luge ride, a mesmerizing visit to the Aquarium where we saw live performance of Dolphins and Sea lions and in the night we explored the various eating joints by the beach where we had a lovely candle lit dinner.

I was very excited for my Day 2 in Singapore, which was a trip to the famous and popular Universal Studio. Now few important tips for this place:-

  • This place will be crowded and the average wait time for each ride would be 45-50 mins, so go mentally prepared.
  • The queue for ticket counter is long and endless, hence spare yourself that horror and purchase the tickets online. We got a good deal of 65 Singapore dollar per person which included 10 dollar for buying food at their local food joints. The tickets at the venue were costing 72 Singapore Dollar per person, hence you end up saving money.
  • If you don’t like waiting in lines, you can also purchase the express card @$50 (Singapore dollars), this will give you the advantage to beat the long queues at the rides.  We found it a little over our budget, so we didn’t buy it.

Universal studio was full of fun and adventurous rides, I loved the 4D transformer ride and got scared to death in the “Mummy Ride”, got a chance to dance with my favorite Madagascar friends and to meet Shrek & Fiona. There were some amazing music and dance shows too, overall this place has got everything to keep you occupied and entertained throughout the day. This place was totally worth every dollar that we spent in buying the tickets.

Travelling back from Sentosa Island to the city is very convenient, by taxi it would be a 30 minute drive while you can also choose to travel by the MRT (Metro Rail Train), its way cheaper than taxi and very convenient. Taxis are expensive here, so we mostly travelled by MRT and the bus in the city, it was fun and adventurous. One cannot ignore the most magnificent construction of the city which is the “Marina Bay Sand Hotel”, do visit the hotel which also has a mall and a casino. We did have a fun night of gambling at their casino which was totally world class experience. For nightlife and clubbing, Clark Quay should be your destination, with a vast choice of restaurants offering world cuisine and most happening night clubs and bars, this place is a tourist delight. Oh shopping, how can I forget that? This is the most important thing on agenda, Orchard Road would be a place for all those who love brands, with the best malls located on this street offering all the luxury brands of the world. And for all those who love flea markets and street shopping, straight away head to China town and Bugis Street which is the largest street shopping market in Singapore. For all those who are interested in seeing a glimpse of India in Singapore can visit Little India, it has a lot of Indian restaurants and shops selling Indian stuff.

From the sightseeing perspective, one must definitely visit the Singapore Lion Park, experience the Singapore Flyer which offers a 360 panoramic view of the country and the Singapore Zoo along with its night safari.

We missed out on the zoo this time because of shortage of time, but it’s definitely on my agenda for my next trip to Singapore, as I’m definitely going back there once again.
