Jewellery is the ultimate accessory. An essential that completes any well put together outfit. After spending the majority of the last year stuck indoors, we found that jewellery could give us that much needed pick me up from the unglamorous and monotonous days spent in loungewear hopping on zoom chats for both work and pleasure. A dazzling new necklace or a pair of hooped earrings gave our outfits a little bit of life and now’s the time to showcase them to the world as everything begins to open up. Let’s take a look at some of the most on-trend options for your hands and feet post lockdown.
Rings
Rings are the ultimate hand accessory and we’re big fans of stacking them up a la Jade Trau, who’s just opened her first retail location in Southampton, to complete our outfits. One thing’s for sure is that gold is the trend this season for rings as are pearls, bling and of course chain-link; three trends that have overrun the jewellery scene this season.
As for ideas, McQueen released a beautiful gold-tone ring as part of their costume jewellery collection. A proud combination of asymmetry and imperfection, the ring sits on two fingers to create a cool and contemporary look with a big statement.
When it comes to rings, don’t forget the bling too. Crystals and diamonds are big for this year and the Mateo 14k gold, crystal and diamond ring is sure to capture the attention of anyone in a well-lit room. Team it with neon for an ultra on-trend spring summer 2021 look.
Not a fan of bling or ring stacking? No problem, but you’ll still have to go big if you want to stay on-trend. In general, this season is all about bigger being better; Victoria Beckham-style chain-links and oversize earrings being huge on catwalks. Chunky rings are also here to stay. A staple in our collections for the last three years or so now, a chunky gold ring is the perfect way to finish off any stylish luxury outfit. We love the Chloe Trudie ring if you’re looking for something that simple that makes a big impact.
Bracelets
I feel like we’ve mentioned this word a lot but chainlink is everywhere this season so no luxe jewellery collection should be considered complete without a chainlink bracelet. There’s a wealth of brands to choose from too; Isabel Marant, Gucci, Christian Dior…the list goes on. No matter who’s fashion house you choose to purchase your wrist candy from, it’s safe to say that silver is big news for bracelets. We personally like the styles of the Gucci Garden Bracelet and Interlocking G options; they give that little something extra in terms of detailing and compliment neon colours perfectly.
Timeless classics are also good too when it comes to your bracelet collection; items like the Cartier Love Bracelet, Boodles Diamond Tennis Bracelet, or former watchmaker Piaget’s cuff are all items that transcend seasonal fashion.
Charm bracelets are also back for 2021. We saw them feature a lot on the 2020 catwalks but since none of us got out that much, it’s great that this trend has revived this year too. Charm bracelets are also the best storytelling accessories. Who doesn’t enjoy a good story? It’s a great way to spark conversations during post-21st June get-togethers – new social skills incoming.
Anklets
Anklets are set to be a huge fashion trend this summer too which excites our inner 90s persona. In terms of design, anything goes – dainty to dramatic – we’ve spotted it all. Mateo and Sophie Billie Brahe opted for more intricate thin designs with just a hint of pearl detailing and Alexander McQueen as-ever has for something a little bolder in their collection; larger pearls with their signature skull and a bit of chain link for good measure.
The good news is that they’ll last you a couple of seasons too. We expect anklets to remain popular throughout AW21 especially after spotting German fashion blogger Caro Daur rocking her chainlink anklet over the top of her tights last autumn.
Not ready to commit to an anklet? You can also rock this trend on your footwear too with many fashion houses opting to create built-in anklets into their shoe collection; Bottega Veneta, Paciotti and Amanu are just a few.
