Hey Everyone,

SLS-free shampoo is a blessing, especially for someone who needs regular hair washes. Extremely oily scalp and tropical climate of Mumbai city leave me with no option other than washing my hair regularly. In order to keep my hair in good health, I prefer using a mild shampoo on a regular basis and a rich treatment shampoo once or maximum twice a week. I keep switching my shampoos and last month I tried the Rene Furterer Naturia Gentle Balancing shampoo. This post is going in the past tense because currently I am on a different hair care routine.

What The Brand Says :
Rene Furterer Naturia Gentle Balancing Shampoo effectively removes dirt excess oil and other impurities from your hair without stripping it of excess moisture. Basil extract preserves your hair pH levels while vitamins B5 and B6 hydrate and rebuild damage. Fresh aromas of basil and mint blend with black currant for a clean invigorating scent.

My Experience With Rene Furterer Naturia Gentle Balancing Shampoo

Rene Furterer is a French hair care brand that ventured into the Indian market somewhere around last year (at least that’s what I know). This shampoo comes in a transparent squeeze tube packaging which I’d say is not the most convenient option because the shampoo being runny in consistency, gushes out of the tube even without squeezing, so one can end up wasting a lot of product.
It smells amazingly fresh with a dominating aroma of basil but it does not linger on for a long time. The shampoo does not lather very well but a regular quantity cleans the hair and scalp effectively. It’s a mild shampoo which is great for in-between uses and can remove 1 or 2 days build up but not excess dirt, grease or oil. When I was using this shampoo, 5 days was the maximum I could go with it, after which I used to feel the urge for something stronger to get a clean feeling, that’s when I oil my hair and use a different shampoo (I used the L’Oreal Spa range along with this) and the results were amazing.

The shampoo is not totally sulphate-free because it does not contain SLS but still has SLES which is much milder in comparison. The essential oils of Caraway, Basil & Peppermint along with vitamins balance the ph levels of hair so it doesn’t result in dryness or frizz and does not weight down hair either. Follow up with a conditioner for extremely dry and frizzy hair….mine is dry but not too frizzy, so I could happily skip the ordeal of using a conditioner every day, instead, I used the hair mask from the Rene further Karite range twice a week and it did work wonders for my hair making them soft, smooth, healthy without irritating the scalp.

As a rule, if you wash your hair regularly with harsh shampoos, then the natural oils are stripped off and your scalp will produce more oil in order to balance the equation and I have started believing in this even more. Because of using a balancing shampoo my scalp is less oily and I can easily take a day off from washing my hair, but just out of habit, I still don’t skip 😛

“Info On A Silver Platter”
If you are looking for a good in-between alternative with your treatment shampoos, I believe this works well. It’s is an expensive product but I will say it’s worth buying. I have realised that this whole routine of using a mild shampoo for 5 days followed by a treatment shampoo has worked well for my hair. Currently, I am using a shampoo and conditioner duo from Forest Essentials but if I wasn’t a beauty blogger, I would have repurchased this shampoo for sure.
