Kim Kardashian’s sculpted cheekbone is the envy of all her rivals,  courtesy the amazing highlighting and contouring technique! But honestly who does that on a daily basis!

To be honest and I may sound harsh but our life lacks the right amount of pampering and it is only we who don’t permit ourselves to use so many products every day.

The concept of highlighting under eyes caught my attention and it was literally everywhere, from YouTube to blogosphere that I had to get one to try myself.

YSL touché Éclat highlighter pen is very expensive and I don’t wanna spend so much money on something I am not sure about.  And so after checking few reviews online I was convinced to pick up this drugstore version a  highlighting pen from Maybelline.

My Experience With Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer

I absolutely love the texture and application of this product. For a fraction of the price, this seems to be one of the best drugstore options for twist up highlighter pen. I apply this under my eyes, bridge of my nose and middle of my brow area and tap lightly with my ring finger to blend and smooth it out.

This almost instantly brightens the eyes and the result is lovely bright fresh looking face that stays put for almost the whole day. Again this is not a concealer to camouflage dark circles or cover blemishes, however it does give slight coverage with highlighting effect. Those who have dark circles will need a concealer/ Corrector as well. I don’t have dark circles but highlighting under eyes always gives a youthful effect to face.

Its Gel-based formula diffuses light to provide on-spot perfection in just one touch, It make you look awaken and fresh.

The texture is slightly thicker but sets quickly. It is creamy and applies smoothly without leaving any harsh lines. Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer is slightly on drier side and therefore, it should be blended fast. The best thing about this product is – It doesn’t crease on me. Once set, it doesn’t budge and stays for more than 6-7 hours. Now that the weather is changing, I don’t find it necessary to use setting powder but in summers it’s a must. But those who have dry skin– DO NOT forget to apply moisturizer or eye cream underneath or else it can feel dry.

The packaging is quite flimsy, comes in a plastic type packaging with clear tube. It has a brush tip applicator which is neither too soft nor harsh.  Not fancy but not bad either.

Now there are few things I don’t like about this product: First the shade selections are awful. 6 shades are available online out of which we have only 3 shades in-stores. Shade 01 is very very light, the 2nd shade available has strong pink undertone to it and I was left with no choice but to pick the last shade- “Honey”. On the other hand it is also true that as it’s an illuminator and not concealer, therefore it is not meant to be available in deeper shades. Another bad thing about the packaging is the twist-up-clicking is pain to use. The day first I had to click turn for almost 1 minute to release the product out. However when you in a hurry, you can imagine how irritating this can get and many times, I have lost my patience and turned more clicks, only to find a lot of product oozing out than needed and hence, product wastage.

Turn Off: Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer

  • The formula is little on the drier side and demands fast blending.
  • Limited shade selection.
  • The twist up turn click is annoying sometimes; it irritates me when I have to wait for the product to come out of the brush after so many clicks and turns!

COSMOCHICS RATING: 4/5 (Not a big fan of the packaging)

INFO ON A SILVER PLATTER”- I love the product as much as I hate the rotating mechanism. Till date Maybelline products never disappointed me, it’s one of the best highlighter/ illuminator from drugstore though. Product wise I would stick to this but packaging wise I may shift to some other brands.
