Lush Brazened Honey Face Mask: Reviews & Swatches

It’s that time of the year when we start upgrading the wardrobe and are also determined to gift ourselves a fresh looking skin, I am talking about the upcoming wedding season and therefore I researched a lot and from hundreds of products available in the market, I picked up options which I thought would do well and would be the best for my skin. And I am so happy that most of them worked well!  🙂

THIS IS MY FIRST MASK FROM LUSH AND I WAS REALLY EXCITED TO USE IT. I REMEMBER APPLYING IT ON MY FACE THE MINUTE I REACHED MY HOME!

It’s named “BRAZENED HONEY” and it promises to detoxify the skin by making it vibrant and revitalized, done by exfoliating, stimulating and nourishing. Wow…!!! Sounds quite fun, isn’t it?

WHAT THE PRODUCT CLAIMS (as mentioned on the slip stuck to the cup) A powerhouse of effective ingredients for tired skin, exfoliating, detoxifying, stimulating and nourishing. Leaves skin vibrant and re-vitalized.

QUANTITY: 126GMS (for a 100 gms it was a little lesser amount, don’t remember it)

SHELF LIFE: The SA @ the counter said 40 days.

INGREDIENTS: kaolin, talc, fresh organic lime juice, sage, fresh free range eggs, honey, glycerin, rosemary, juniperberry infusion, ground almond shells, benzyl salicylate, eugenol, geraniol, benzyl benzoate, perfume*, (occurs naturally)

HOW TO USE: Cleanse your face and pat dry. Smooth a good amount of dollop of fresh face mask over your entire face, making sure to avoid the eyes and mouth. Leave the mask for about ten minutes (do not let the mask dry completely) wash off your face with warm water and follow with your favorite toner and moisturizer.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH LUSH BRAZENED HONEYFACE MASK

Brazened honey is packaged in the usual black cup like all the other lush’s products which needs to be refrigerated. It looks like mustard and smells quite strong. This one is a thick mask and you have to make it like a paste before applying it on face. I usually add my toner or a rose water to the mask and after getting the desired consistency I apply it all over the face. I don’t bring this mask down the neck, it’s only the face which I like the cover and the simple reason is the cost of the pack!

After applying it evenly which is again a task you know, the pack dries and stretches my skin a bit. Every time I do experience mild tingling as well but haven’t experienced any bad reaction or redness on face.

It takes 10-15 minutes to dry naturally and one has to be careful while removing it. I like to wash it by wetting it with a little water and massaging it all over without any pressure.

Please note that no extra pressure should be used to wash it as it contains ground almond shells and the texture can be a bit abrasive. I like to remove it like that of a gram flour mask (Ubtan). This way it exfoliates my skin as well and removes all the dirt!

How I felt after washing my face– the moment face mask was washed off I started feeling a soft face skin! The presence of honey in the pack made my skin feel soft. I looked myself in the mirror and was able to see a clean, brightened complexion and vibrant face! It is like a tightening mask as after regular use I can see the pore size on face has minimized and also it helped me get rid of the tan on my forehead! The tan wasn’t that bad but was quite evident! The cup finishes off in 8 applications, which also depends on the amount you use each time. I applied quite a thick mask as I was told by the SA that it will expire after 40 days.

1)    It did help in providing a clean face and clearer complexion.

2)    It tightens the pores.

3)    It’s all natural.

4)    Vibrant skin is a delight!

5)    Lush do not test on animals….an added advantage for all of us!

6)    Regular use of the mask took care of the blackheads.

7)    As it contains all the ingredients which would make your skin soft like eggs & honey which makes it suitable for oily, combination and normal skin. ( it has kaolin as an ingredient which has an ability to dry the skin so I guess this one won’t be suitable for  dry skinned )

8)    Presence of Kaolin helps fight acne and inflammation!

9)    It didn’t dry out my oily skin!

TURN OFF: LUSH BRAZENED HONEYFACE MASK

1)    Well with the cost we pay I was looking for a longer shelf life!

2)    The smell is strong and won’t be appreciated by people with sensitive nose.

3)    I have sensitive skin and didn’t get any rash or redness but if you have very sensitive skin or using any creams like retinol, then this one is not for you, as it’s a kind of mask which exfoliates the face. Ingredients like ground almond shell can be a bit harsh.
