Lakmé Absolute Lip Pout Matte Masaba Lips Collection || Lakmé x Masaba Lips || Cotton Candy || Price || Review & Swatches || Buy Online India
“Melody hai chocolaty…melody hai chocolaty”
Remember this jingle from the 90’s??? , well if you don’t then you will because Lakme has teamed up with Masaba to come up with a 90’s candy inspired fun collection, all those Pan Pasand, Melodies, Phantom Cigarettes, Bubblegum and Role-a-Cola prints on the packaging to make you feel nostalgic….O yes, did I mention it’s a limited edition.
I could not attend the fun colorful event due to some reasons but followed the launch carefully. If you have read my review here, you already know that I wasn’t a fan of the matte lip pouts by Lakmé and when I got to know that these hold the same formula I decided to give them a miss but cute packaging and the whole limited edition thing got me so I gave in and decided to buy just one. I chose the shade Cotton Candy out of 10 shades available.
Shades:
There are 5 themed color families 2 shades in each so it’s a good mix
- Smokey Red: Bright Warm Red
- Sugar N Spice: Deep Red
- Hot Chocolate: Deep Brown with purple undertones
- Role A Cola: Blue Based Purple
- Bubble Pink: Cool toned pink
- Orange Candy: Bright Orange with Warm tones
- Caramel Toffee: Nude Brown
- Cotton Candy: Brownish Pink with a Coral hint
- Cherry Bite: Medium Red
- Hot Pink Queen: Bubblegum pink
Price: Rs.750/- for 3.7g
Availability: Online exculsive @Nykaa at present but will be available at the counters a little later
My Experience With The Lakmé Absolute Lip Pout Matte Masaba Lips: Cotton Candy
These are retractable chubby sticks with a quirky, colorful, funky and fun packaging. The formula is same as the Lakme absolute matte lip pouts so I am not getting into the details. I had a problem that the matte lip pouts went patchy and felt heavy and dry, well, this shade is a little less patchy but still it has to be swiped three times to look even.
The shade Cotton Candy is a gorgeous pink with hints of brown and a coral sheen. A lovely combination making it a must have shade for every skin tone. The sheen is not discernable but it provides a slight coral element to the shade.
“Info On A Silver Platter”
I will recommend buying these lip colors only if you love the packaging because performance wise I don’t like what they offer at a price point of Rs. 750/-. I expected a better formula.
What I read online, all the shades are not patchy, so it varies. Cotton candy is one of the less patchy ones but calling them creamy and comfortable is a little too much. You cannot wear these without exfoliating or moisturizing your lips otherwise be prepared to see the lipstick clinging to dry bits and settling into fine lines.
I don’t say that they won’t work, but after paying so much I don’t expect that much of an effort. If there is one shade that you must have from the collection, then I will recommend buying Caramel Toffee or Cotton Candy, they are stunners. If you are not attracted to these then it will be wise enough to give them a pass because there are better matte formulas available in the market at the same price or even less.
