Life is unpredictable and time flies, and I totally believe both these things are true, as never in my weirdest possible dreams I would have planned to go through an arranged marriage channel, move cities and now even countries and be a trailing spouse to my husband here in China. But here I am, celebrating my 2nd marriage anniversary today and trust me there is no regret whatsoever!

Last two years have been like a Big Roller Coaster ride, its was crazy, fun, adventurous, at times a little scary and tough but, one learns to master the art of sustaining through, once married. So yeah, Rahul and I met through our parents but thankfully we clicked and fortunately we do share a chemistry that most of our friends wonder and do not believe that ours is an arranged marriage. Just the other day, it took me a while to convince my friend out here in Beijing, but yeah its good fun when people notice the love and chemistry that one share’s with his/her spouse. Rahul and I are really blessed that ways.

So what goes behind this chemistry ??? Well I believe its the instant connection that you feel when you meet a person, well that may not be the only thing to rely on as a lot goes into having a sustainable relationship especially marriage.

I’m not an easy nut to crack, but somehow this IT guy got some secret code to crack me down and make me fall for him and that too so naturally that I didn’t even realized when it happened. A casual coffee date arranged by our parents led to constant chats on GTALK, which then graduated to What’s App messages and frequent phone calls. Yes it was the optimum use of technology since I was in Delhi and Rahul was in Hyderabad. Everything was going smooth until one drunken crazy Saturday Night. Yes, alcohol has a very important role to play in our story. We owe it all to the spirit of good times. I was out with friends and happily indulging in the sinful pleasures of an LIIT (LONG ISLAND ICE TEA) while Rahul was having a house party with his friends over a bottle of Whiskey.  Drinks kept coming, while we kept chatting on G-talk, until suddenly Rahul popped up the question. It was way past midnight and I just felt all the alcohol evaporating from my body at this question, I decided to stay diplomatic and rushed home. Suddenly this guy calls and apologizes for dropping the question over G-talk and wanted to do it in person. Rahul being his crazy, impulsive self booked the next flight to Delhi at early morning and was there in Delhi in the morning to meet me over a cup of coffee and to propose me in person.

And yes, I couldn’t resist saying YES to this crazy , impulsive and romantic guy who just flew all the way to ask me out to marry him. We spent the whole day together and then decided to tell our parents. We were happy, parents were relieved, friends were shocked but yeah that’s how we decided to spend the rest of our lives with each other. And till date I owe it to the LIITS and Rahul owes it to the whiskey and hence to pay our due tribute to alcohol, we both ensure that there’s always enough stock of the same maintained in our house at all the times…. ha ha ha!!! So now you know what goes behind the chemistry 🙂

So what’s life after marriage? Nothing changed except for cities for me, Hyderabad stint was amazing, I made some great friends, had amazing and crazy parties, a great job, holidays and a lot of road trips. And then began the biggest adventure of our lives which was moving to China. Its been crazy here, but we’ve managed to have our bit of fun here too, Rahul and I both are extroverts by nature and we have this innate quality of making friends easily. There have been tough times, lot of struggles leading to frustration but both of us as a team managed to balance it out. Crazy fights add the spice and making up after the fights has it’s own pleasures.

So this was the story of how I met my Valentine for life. And I’m so happy and blessed to have him as my companion, my best friend, my confidante, my partner in crime for all mischief, my LIIT buddy and the perfect husband who’s mastered the art of making the most perfect tea in the last two years.

@Rahul- You’re the best thing that has happened to me in life and I count you as one of my biggest blessings bestowed upon me by god, my mom and my grandma. I love you and I cherish each & every little thing that you do in your own unique way to make me feel so special and loved. Thanks for being there always. Here’s wishing us many more years of craziness and awesomeness ahead..!!!
