I’ll admit that I’ve not always been the biggest fan of board games, but that’s totally changed now that I found out there are board game apps! First of all, I didn’t even know these were even a thing. Not until I overheard someone talking about it on the subway. I was curious, so I decided to do some research. Turns out, there are a lot of really great apps out there.
Unfortunately, it’s sort of a two-way street. There are loads of apps out there; so many that it can actually be tough to find out which ones are the best ones. That’s why, when I came across this best 10 list of the best board game apps in my research, I knew I had to give it a try.
Best 10 Classic Board Game Apps
I’m really glad I did, too, because a few of the apps I tried really stood out to me. Even after a month, I’m still playing them every single day. That’s why I knew I needed to share them with you.
Have a Blast with the Game You Know & Love with Bingo Partyland
People of all ages love bingo – there’s no doubt about that! I guess this is a bit of a cheat, because Bingo isn’t necessarily a board game, but I want to mention this game because it’s not only kid-friendly but also incredibly fun. The game is party-themed, designed with the specific purpose of keeping you and your entire crew having fun for hours. It’s a huge hit in my family!
I still like this game a lot, but I am a bit bummed because I used to be able to get extra coins by adding friends from social media. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem I can do that anymore, so earning coins is a bit harder than before.
Four In a Row
If you have (or know) kids who like to play board games, then you will absolutely love this rendition of Connect Four. It totally gets rid of the risky, tiny game pieces and there’s no clean up required (a blessing to any parent). That being said, the game still has all of the simplicity and fun of the traditional game. Plus, my kids like that they can immediately start a new game once the previous one has come to an end.
The only thing negative I can really say about this game (and I’m not particularly sure how negative it is anyway) is that there’s a big difference between the difficulty levels. My kids got a bit bored of the easy level, but when I switched it to medium, they were struggling with it a bit. However, they learned to adjust pretty quickly, so it wasn’t that big of a deal.
Wheel of Fortune
I watched Wheel of Fortune every week growing up, so when I saw this app on the list, I knew I had to download it (even if it’s not technically a board game). I’ve been having a lot of fun introducing my kids to the game show I loved so much when I was their age. Some of the puzzles are even from the TV show, which is pretty sweet.
Just keep in mind that this is an app, so it does differ a bit from the television show in terms of rules. At first, I did find this a bit difficult to get accustomed to (which made explaining the rules to my kids a bit tricky at first), but soon enough we got used to it and now we love competing against one another to see who can solve the puzzles fastest.
Conclusion
These games are so fun and my entire family absolutely loves them. I’m so glad I decided to do a little research. I’m honestly so grateful to AppGrooves, because I’m not sure how I would have narrowed down my selection otherwise. If you and your family like board games, I think these apps are seriously worth checking out. They’re an absolute blast for everyone.
