Spilt ends, Dullness, Thinning, Hair fall…whatever the problem…solution is always the same “Chop em Off” Really????? I don’t blame anyone because that is the mindset we have grown up with but over a period of time I have realised that trims and cuts cannot do anything for damaged hair. We have to understand, if there are signs of damage, then the problem is from the roots and cutting off a particular length of hair will do no good to them. They have to be treated and nourished from within.
Now that if are convinced that problems cannot be treated by chopping your crowning glory, finding the right kind of treatment can be a daunting task, right? ….wrong I say!!!!!
Henna, Amla, Reetha, Shikakai, Lemon, Natural oils and many more, this is what we used to have 2 decades ago and today in our hectic lifestyle or lazy world, we have chemically laden hair spas, Shampoos, Hair masks etc. I don’t say all, but most of them do no good to the hair. Why am I so confident? Because I’ve been there and done that.
Here is the route I followed
Chemically straightened my hair twice—-> Wasn’t oiling my hair regularly—->Suffered from severe hair fall and thinning—->Got them chopped—->Got hair spas done
Result : Hair Spa gave a temporary feel of healthy hair but did no good to damage.
I was missing out on the most important part of hair care and that was oiling my hair. I have taken up the 3 month hair oil challenge with Vatika enriched hair oil (read here), its been almost two months already and the update is, my hair fall has drastically reduced, my hair feels healthy and luscious, length has increased by a few inches and I can feel those tiny new grown hair on my scalp. I used to get a good champi by my grandma as a kid with this oil and I am surprised how could I forget the importance of oiling my hair. Probably I was blinded by the fancy options available, but I am glad that I have resorted to oiling and my hair is thanking me now!
