After a horrible experience with my previous shampoo (read about it here) , I wanted my hair to take a break from harsh chemicals and try out some natural product to revive my hair from the damage that they had suffered. Thinking about natural, I thought of Ayurveda and with Ayurveda Biotique came to my mind because it is the most easily available, affordable and reliable product.

So in the store whilst searching for a shampoo amongst similar looking Biotique packs, my eyes stopped on one bottle which read “BODY BUILDING SHAMPOO” and I got curious to find out more about this and if you feel the same then read on…..

What Biotique says:

Bio Walnut Bark Fresh Lift Body Building Shampoo Walnut Bark is derived from a black furrowed tree that exudes a dark brown honey with smoothing and strengthening properties. This rich, body-building formula is a blend of pure walnut bark, musk root, amla, soap nut and black malya flowers, to thoroughly cleanse, and revive hair for a fuller, thicker, lifted look.

MY EXPERIENCE BIOTIQUE WALNUT BARK FRESH LIFT BODY BUILDING SHAMPOO:

I had always heard that amla ,bhringraj work wonders for hair and reetha is a natural cleanser, this product had all three along with added advantages of walnut bark so without any second thoughts I picked it up. Another reason was that its meant for people with fine and thinning hair ( just like me 🙁   )

It comes in a standard Biotiquepackaging with a plastic bottle and a green cap. The shampoo is neither too thick nor too runny. The color is blue with a hint of violet to it and the smell is quite strong. Can’t describe but it smells like some ayurvedic oil. Not much quantity is required, just a coin sized amount is sufficient to clean hair which are slightly below shoulder length, so yes the bottle lasts long enough. It lathers and cleanses well.

I have very oily scalp and I have to wash my hair daily (yes I mean daily!!!!!don’t be surprised) and after the first wash I realized that it gave me thoroughly clean hair and scalp, but apart from that it made no difference to my hair. After many washes also it could not change my opinion. It made absolutely no difference to the way my hair look or feel. No shine, no volume, no lift or bounce or whatever the product claimed:(

3)   No Animal Testing.

4)   Cleans hair and scalp without leaving any residue.

5)   It’s Affordable.

6)   Did not cause any hair fall or hair damage.

TURN OFF: BIOTIQUE WALNUT BARK FRESH LIFT BODY BUILDING SHAMPOO

1)   Does not live up to its claims.

2)   Cannot be used by people with dry hair.

3)   SLS present in it.

COSMOCHICS RATING:  2.5/5

INFO ON A SILVER PLATTER”- It’s quite an average product. It’s just a good cleanser. Does not provide any benefits to the hair so, if you are not looking out for added advantages in a shampoo and want a good natural cleanser for oily hair (but yes it contains sls), go for it.

WE LOVE TO HEAR FROM OUR READERS:

  1. Hi Garima! I have been using this for a few years now and the first shampoo that I really settled down to 🙂 In my case, it did give a visible lift and volume. Although I did not notice it initially, when I briefly changed my shampoo, I noticed that my hair was actually not as voluminous as I had gotten used to seeing it. I have slightly thin but very silky hair that has a tendency to become oily unless washed everyday. May be this actually works for my hair type!!
