My Bangalore Weekend getaway:Travel To Coorg. Madikeri, Talakaveri, Raja’s seat and Abbey Falls.

Few months ago just out of the blue my husband asked me if I would be interested to go to coorg.

Delighted over the fact that it would be a road trip, I started packing.

The best way to go to “COORG “ from Bangalore is by driving.

Madikere  is about 253kms through Mysore road. It was a five hours drive from my home.

The route is as follows: Bangalore – Bidadi – Ramanagaram – Chennapatna – Maddur – Mandya – Srirangapatna – Madikeri, Coorg (few more were there in between Srirangapatna and madikeri…i forgot the names…we actually used our GPS to reach there. And it worked so well. Google map navigation system is a real help!!!)it is so easy to go anywhere!

There are couples of hotels and homestays in and around madikere. We decided to give homestay a try. The price of the homestay was rs 3000 per night.

With two rooms, one living room and two bathrooms, It had hot water facility as well. (Because of the cool temperature one definitely needs this facility).

The house was  situated in a little weird place which seemed to be at a hill top…yes hill top I said, and weird too…..weird because the road to reach the house was not constructed well. In fact all the roads in and around Madikeri were broken & potholed.

First day we were in Madikeri town and visited Bhagandeshwara temple, Abbey falls and raja’s seat.

Abbey falls is about 8-10 kms or so from Madikere. And the best thing about Raja’s Seat is that it offers breathtaking sunsets and pananormic view.Abby WATER FALLS - Madikeri - Coorg.318572_386636578097036_1448077530_n

AT RAJA’S SEAT

Next we headed towards Talacauvery. It is about 35-40 kms from Madikere. Tala-Kaveri-the birth place of river Kaveri, it is a beautiful place which is surrounded by mountains! A shrine is situated near a big tank in front of it where devotees bath before offering prayers. The only problem is that a lot of people visit the place so it’s very difficult to get parking.

THIS PHOTO IS NOT THE ACTUAL TEMPLE…I HAVE CLICKED A BOARD WHERE THE POSTER WAS PASTED.

Well I would say that the lush green fields and captivating waterfalls are the best features of “COORG”.

DO YOU LIKE PLACES WITH HILLS ALL AROUND!
