Ahhh Thailand!! This was a holiday, which my wife and I were very eagerly waiting for…. 8 days of sheer Madness – we were counting days to the trip. I had Adventure, Food and Relaxation on my mind… but the missus had a one-track shopping agenda!! That’s were Thailand and its sheer options came to rescue. If a Thailand trip is on your mind, a little planning before the trip can go a long way. If I could break it down to you.. There could be 2 options

  1. Travel with women (be it only bunch of women / men and women / couples / couple of couples / One lady and bunch of guys)… In short if your trip consists of travelling with women then shopping is big on your agenda!!! You cannot escape it!! Bangkok is a place you’ll have to spend a few days… and the rest can be spread between Pattaya / Phuket / Koh Samui and all…
  2. Only Men – dudes – just skip Bangkok – hit straight to Phuket (if Adventure is on your mind) or Pattaya if you want to have an adventure of the different kind!

Let’s Start with us… well as you’ve guessed – we were travelling on Option A. (lol)

Travel: Thailand’s Capital City Bangkok’s Swarnabhumi (pronounced Swanaphumi) Airport, has direct flights from Major Indian Cities . Once in Thailand – the other cities like Koh Samui, Phuket and the rest are connected well with local flights. Pattaya is an hour and half by road from the Bangkok- so just hire a taxi – it’s the most economical way to travel. It’s nice to get the flights in single itinerary. We bought a multi-city flight with stop-over in Bangkok and Phuket – this is most economical way for air-travel.

Bangkok: If there was a Budget Vegas in the world – Bangkok would be a contender in the running!! Through the day, there was Shopping, Shopping and more shopping… well there were 2 places in particular Palladium and MBS Malls, these were predominantly for women – although some really cool stuff for guys too. They are easily in reach from the Subway, Taxi and the Tuk-Tuk(be ready to bargain). There are a few cool places along the river-side that you can check out as well. The place livens up in the night, the Patong-Night Market, Soi-Cowboy, etc… are open all night for some rowdy fun!

A visit to Sirocco, world’s largest Open Air Restaurant, on the 64th floor of the State Tower.

Pattaya: An hour’s drive away from Crowded Bangkok’s Skyscrapers. The air clears up the sights and are closer to nature, deep blue seas which are sun-kissed through the day and gateway to party-times during the nights!! We were at the Holiday Inn at Pattaya Beach road – and what a wise decision that was!! A panoramic view of the Pattaya beach road from the balcony of our 21st floor, I’d recommend this hotel for stay any day!!!

t11Travelling around Pattaya – we hired a gear less scooter for approximate 200 bucks a day – the best thing to do. It’s another nice place for food and sights; evening stroll down the Pattaya Walking Street is certainly an eye-opener. Plenty of Food options for Veg and Non-Veg, my advice try the local specialties they’re worth an experience. Tender Coconut water is something we all have had, but it’s really something in Thailand.
