In my last post I talked about Bangkok and Pataya. If by any chance you missed reading about it Click Here
Lets continue with our journey!
Phuket: Best way to reach is to catch a flight from Bangkok(preferred option) – or a smaller known airport near Pattaya ( I wouldn’t advice it though). Here’s where the adventures begin, Travel Tip: Hire a Car with GPS if you can afford –because it’s going to give you a lot of flexibility to travel during nights . I wouldn’t advise you to travel on bikes for longer duration in nights. You could opt to stay in Phuket – Patong Beach Road – this the happening part of phuket – lots of food, shopping, partying and frolic.
But if you are in for a quieter retreat mood, then head down to Cape Panwa, and some awesome beach resorts there!! We were at the Radisson Blu Plaza Resort, Cape Panwa. here’s a picture -View from our sea view room@Radisson Blu Plaza Resort,Phuket.Waking up to an idyllic private beach, sounds of birds and nature… We just did not want to leave!! It was our slice of Heaven right there. The courteous staff, the amazing layered pools, the free scuba diving lessons, the perfect beach setting. I’m surely headed there again. If you plan to rent a higher capacity motor-cycle, there are a few options on Patong Beach Road, but be ready to shell 1000 THB per day and giving your Passport as a deposit. Be more careful than your life about the bike… You don’t want to beg for your passport back:)
Don Phi-Phi / KohSamui: Closer to Phuket, you can take one-day trips / longer stay options to the more secluded Islands – if you love Scuba / Snorkeling and the sea – you’re an in for a treat of crystal blue waters, a range of aquatic life and some sheer nature’s magic. Plan in advance and bargain a bit for the Day-trips and it’s worth every penny! Closer to Phuket are some other adventure options like Sky-diving / adventure junkie resorts etc.
I tasted my first experience of Snorkeling near the Don Phi Phi Islands, and I can still remember it like it was yesterday!!
the picture below of the free scuba diving lessons@ the hotel, followed by Me snorkelling @Don Phi-Phi!
Maya Bay @ Koh Phi Phi Ley which is the second largest island of the ‘island chain'( Archipelago). It is like the most beautiful place in the world!
A last word! This is a place you should not miss, I would want to go again to Thailand and see some other sights like the Tiger-Temple and the Elephant Sanctuary (maybe someday soon). Try and avoid it during the summers and the Monsoons. Summers are crazy hot and Sticky! And monsoons will confine you to the hotels, the seas will be rough and choppy for any Island tours, you may not be able to enjoy your money’s worth. Oh yeah!! Carry a lot of Sunscreen and keep applying it regularly!!(lol)
EDITOR- These tips are so valuable RAHUL. Thank you for sharing your experience with us, this will definitely help a lot! Hope to see more such posts!!!
