The Body Shop Lily Cole Primer: Review & Swatches

The most important part of makeup is to set the base right. If you don’t do that, you might become the center of everyone’s attention….no not because you are looking like Cinderella but because you might be looking like that witch from the story of Rapunzel.

Alright so the discussion was about setting the base right and although you can do that by using a perfectly matching foundation and concealer, if you invest in a good primer, blending will be like child’s play and the foundation will also give better results. Basically primers are used as a base before foundation. They do various jobs such as color correction, pore minimizing, smoothing fine lines, adding radiance, controlling oil secretion  etc. depending upon the needs of your skin you can choose from the wide range of primers available in the market. Primers prep your face to act like canvas for smooth application of foundation. It makes the foundation stay longer and also prevents it from getting oxidized. Today I will be reviewing the body shop lily Cole pearl radiance primer.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE BODY SHOP Lily Cole Primer

This primer comes in a transparent cylinder with a pink covering and a black cap which makes the packaging quite chic but the main attraction is gained by the tiny little beads that are visible through the cylinder…they look ‘oh so cute’. They are actually little pearly beads suspended in a transparent gel which are responsible for the radiant effect that the primer provides. The pump dispenser makes it easy to control the amount of product taken and also maintains hygiene standards.

When dispensed the pearls come out broken and mixed with the gel as seen in the picture below.

On first sight I thought that blending would be very difficult but it is very easy to apply this primer. It spreads evenly and is quite smooth and since it is gel based its quite hydrating.
Coming to the results, this can be used alone or beneath the foundation. When used alone it gives a very nice glowing effect to the face. It brightens the otherwise dull looking skin and hide the pores but not dramatically. So if you do not want to hide your skin imperfections under the foundation, this is a perfect solution to give an illusion of a glowing skin.
When used underneath the foundation, the glow was still visible. The application of foundation became smooth and easy plus my foundation stayed longer than its usual wear time…it extended its wear by 2.5 hours.
This primer however I feel is not for oily skinned people because it results in a dewy look and not matte. Also its not meant for people who have major skin imperfections like large pores, wrinkles or pigmentation.

“INFO ON A SILVER PLATTER”- I like this primer for what it does but only hitch is the price here because if I spend 2 grand on some other brand, I feel I will get more benefits than this one.
