Fabindia Charcoal Face Pack: Review & Swatches

In one of the previous post Garima mentioned that I literally ran and grabbed this Charcoal face pack from the fabindia’s store.

I read quite ecstatic reviews about this and more importantly I was very enthusiastic to use something with charcoal in it.

Before this face pack came into my life all I could think of charcoal was that it can be used in preparing art work, cooking, and running Indian railways, I mean the engines. But the Wikipedia is all gaga over the uses of charcoal and the very word charcoal made me excited (sounds very manly, isn’t it? Or is it just me? 🙂 ) And so I said it to myself that I have to try it no matter what! (Am I sounding rigid? Even if I am please write good comments in the comment box…hehe).

WHAT THE PRODUCT CLAIMS- ( as mentioned at the back of the face pack tub)

Charcoal is known for its ability to absorb impurities. This pack containing charcoal uses multani mitti as its base. It absorbs dirt and oil from the pores, leaving skin cleaner and healthier.

INGREDIENTS:  Purified Water, Kaolin, Glycerine, Cetostearyl Alcohol, SLES, Isopropyl Palmitate, Activated Charcoal, Papain Powder, Zinc Oxide, Fragrance, Lactic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Xanthan Gum, Magnesium Aluminium Silicate, Imid Urea, Methyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben, Almond Oil, Lemongrass Oil.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE FABINDIA CHARCOAL FACE PACK

Fabindia’s charcoal face pack comes in a transparent plastic tub with colourful wrapper on it. The pack is dark grey in colour and smells nice. The smell is like that of lemon( maybe), though I still can’t figure it out, but it’s very fresh and I haven’t encountered such fragrance before..

The consistency of the paste is thick and it needs to be applied on wet face otherwise you will end up using a lot of product. On a wet face it can be applied easily.

It’s very much like a mud face pack. It dries quickly so I apply a little rose water with cotton pad to again make it wet and keep it on face for 20 minutes at least. (After when it dries I could see my big pores visible through the pack….gosh those few minutes are so horrible for me)

After the wash I could see tremendous results! My face looks clean, brighter and oil free. It seems that all the impurities were gone but I got horrified when I cleansed my face with my toner. I could see the remnants of the face pack on the cotton pad. So the impurities were gone but the face pack was still there!

To wash off the face pack I used my face wash and again used toner to see if it’s all gone, and thankfully it was all gone now.

1)   It’s a great option for oily skinned.

2)   Soaks all the dirt and impurities and the result is a cleaner face!

3)   Didn’t break me out.

4)   This pack didn’t dry out my skin.

5)   I like the smell of the pack (though the people with sensitive nose might have a problem with it)

6)   On a wet face it spreads like a charm 🙂

TURN OFF: FABINDIA CHARCOAL FACE PACK

1)   Full of harsh chemicals like SLES and parabens.

2)    Face pack residue remains on the face even after washing the face with normal tap water. (so you need to be thorough while washing your face)

3)    Fabindia’s charcoal face pack uses multani mitti as its base, so I guess it will dry out the skin of girls/women who already have a dry skin.

4) Unhygienic tub packaging 🙁

COSMOCHICS RATING:  4.30/5   (I judge the product on what it promised, this pack is successful in providing what it claims.

But Minus the mark for harm chemicals )

“INFO ON A SILVER PLATTER”- Though its full of harmful chemicals still I like using this pack as its mud base and soaks all the impurities from my oily skin. I am still in search for a chemical free face pack which is gentle, gives amazing results and is skin friendly!
