There are a number of reasons for dark underarms/armpits. While it can be due to hereditary the main causes can be due to the excessive use of some deodorants directly on that skin area, using antiperspirants, shaving that area with a razor, getting that area bleached, using depilatory creams etc. it’s not a medical condition that one should be bothered too much but still darkening than the usual may bother many!

Here are the ways to get rid of dark underarms naturally and the products used here are all available in your own kitchen!

But before trying ways to cure this condition there are few steps that you need to follow to see the desired results!

1) Do not wear too tight and synthetic clothes always.

2) Stop using chemicals on it! All the deodorants, creams and bleaches available in the market are full of harmful chemicals that in turn would make your underarms even darker.

3) Exfoliating helps and it’s not just for your face but also for the whole body. Try to use scrubs that are lemon or walnut based as they work really well. Apart from this if you have any other scrub go ahead and scrub that area in slow circular motion. Removing the dead skin from there is the first step to “removing the tan”.

Simple Home Remedies! (These are all natural and safe!)

5 ways to brighten up your underarms

A) Use a potato slice to get rid of the tan and uneven skin tone. The slice should be rubbed everyday for at least 5 minutes. Apart from this you can also grate a potato and mix it with lemon juice if you have oily skin and honey is you have dry skin. Apply this mask for 30 minutes and then wash it off with cold water. Potatoes are a great source of natural bleach!

B) Mash 1 ripe banana and add a pinch of turmeric with a teaspoon of lime juice. Make a thick paste. Apply the paste on the darkened area. Wash off with cold water after 30 minutes.

C) I love my gram flour pastes. Curd acts best in removing tan. Add 1 teaspoon gram flour with 2 teaspoon curd and apply the thick paste on the arm pits. Wash with cold water after 30 minutes.

  1. is there any home remedy for upper lip? i have very few light hair on my upperlip..havnt done an upperlip ever because i have afraid it will lead to coarser and darker hair…any home remedies i can try?

    1. Its nice that You havent done anything on the upper lip area Mily!
Home remedies would work nicely only on untreated hair….U can mix 2 teaspoon of besan with half a teasponn of mustard oil and rub the paste against the hair growth. This is a very popular Indian Formula that is even used on babies so that they dont suffer from unwanted facial hair!
Hope this helps…can do this thrice a week and if ur skin feels an irritation that u cannot bear wash with cold water immediately and rub ice on it. ( this would not happen but if ur skin is super sensitive or if u are using retinols u might get a sensation)

    1. Thanks love !
M glad it turned out to be so helpful! do tell the results! 🙂
Though these are slow but are permanent!
