I literally love buffing and smudging my eyeliners on my lash line, this happens when you are in hurry and you are not confident about eye makeup…ehh, that’s me! I always buy dark plumy –purple colors. Last time when I was at a shopping mall, I picked 2 eye pencils from Bourjois- A plain dark brown shade and Bourjois Effet Smoky Eye Pencil Colour- Dark Purple 😀

Bourjois Effet Smoky Eye Pencil Colour Dark Purple

Bourjois Effet Smoky Eye Pencil Colour- Dark Purple is a deep dark burgundy purple shade with a hint of golden shimmers in it. The shimmers are not visible on lids but you can refer the hand swatch below. It adds sheen and reflection to the colour, the shade looks different in different lights. On my lids it’s more of a cool toned deep burgundy plum.  Bourjois Effet Smoky Eye Pencils are voted as “Beauty Bible Award Winner”. It has an opposite ended brush which is obviously useless unless you are outside and need a quick touchup.

The texture of the pencil is soft and considerably creamy that glides on eyelids without any rough effect. I need 2 swipes to get an opaque coverage. The creaminess of the product makes it easy to blend and smudge. I love to use either my fingers or colorbar smudge brush to smudge it. The pigmentation is rich and gives an opaque finish in single pass. But on my dark eyelids I prefer to apply a primer first just to get an intense finish.  Bourjois is the brand from UK and I have seen many beauty bloggers and makeup artist loving their products. The staying power on me is quite impressive. It gives me 4-5 hours of wear time on upper and lower lash line with no smudging or budging at all. The intensity of the shade slowly decreases as the time passes. However during summers you probably need to do touch-ups on lower lash line.

  • Rich colour pay off.
  • Creamy and glides on lids easily.
  • No pulling or hurting while applying.
  • Moderately good staying power.
  • No smudging or budging.
  • Don’t irritate eyes.
  • Good for quick easy smokey effect.
  • The shimmers are not noticeable but give a nice sheen to the shade.

Turn Off: Bourjois Effet Smoky Eye Pencil Color Dark Purple

  • Pricy – I can see they increased their price. It was around 375 INR before.
  • I wish it came with a soft blending brush instead of a stiffer one. The bristles are scratchy.

COSMOCHICS RATING: 3.8/5

INFO ON A SILVER PLATTER“- All 5 shades are extremely beautiful from this range. You can apply it as eyeliner or an eye base. Either way the shade is beautiful. It reminds me of MAC Prunella Eye Kohl. The shade is quite similar to it and therefore you getting a very close MAC dupe 😉 😀

    1. @shailjabeabrideeveryday there are total 5 shades i guess :2thumbup including black, brown, blue, green and this one.. :2thumbup

    1. Hiii Dollie.. actually try rubbing the nib on back of ur hand.. thats what I do. Even for mac liners if I keep them open the nib gets harder to apply.

Also apply concealer on eyelids and powder it. I do the same for my pigmented lids. :peluk :peluk
