My Best 5 RED Lipsticks : Swatches & Mini Review

Red Lipsticks weren’t my genre until one day I applied Ruby woo and fell in love with the shade. After that I have been collecting different Red shades for my vanity. I know that neither red shade is for everyone nor can it be used daily unless you really want to. There is a perfect shade for everyone whether it a Pink or a Red. This post is for those who are not confident enough to wear Red shade and need a little encouragement. Always remember –“Red lips is a class, a statement and is secretly capable to do murder” 😉

I have listed below my top 5 favorite red lipsticks in no particular order, let’s get started!

1) MAC RIHANNA VIVA GLAM

MAC describes VIVA GLAM RIHANNA as Blue tone RED with Frost Finish. It is from MAC Rihanna Viva Glam Collection, a medium to deep tomato red with creamy texture. I was waiting for this collection just to pick this shade; Although MAC says it has blue tones to it but on me it looks warmer. It glides on lips smoothly without any pulling or tugging and sets into semi-matte finish after few minutes. The frost isn’t even visible on lips. This is one of my favorite red because of the texture and the shade. The shade gives complete opaque coverage in single swipe. It has rich and vibrant pigmentation and stays up to more than 5-6 hours on me. The smooth texture glides on lips easily hence very comfortable to wear. The frost adds extra sheen to lips and gives an extra kick to the shade. 2) MAC VIVA GLAM 1

This one was an instant purchase right after application on my lips. The shade has oomph to it. MAC describes it as “Intense brownish-blue red with a Matte finish”.  It is muted dark red with brown undertones. It is very rich in pigmentation and gives completely opaque colour coverage on lips. The texture is creamy and glides easily on lips without tugging or pulling. Another perfect shade for fall, it is very classic deep brownish red which is almost neutral and can suit every one. Colour pay off is 6 hours or more depends on how long you starve yourself 😛

The formula is neither drying on lips nor moisturizing, but very comfortable if that makes any sense. Matte textures are sometimes cruel on lips but this one is not! 3) MAC RIRI WOO

Ah! Another stunning shade that is loved by all. The Famous MAC RIRI WOO is also a part of MAC Rihanna Holiday Collection. This is the first shade which sold out everywhere first. MAC described RIRI WOO as a “matte cool red with a retro matte finish”. MAC RIRI WOO is inspired by MAC RUBY WOO. Both look very similar but with slight difference in undertones and darkness. MAC RIRI WOO is slightly darker than MAC RUBY WOO.

It has a retro matte formula which is obviously on dryer side, but less drying than RUBY WOO. The shade is incredibly pigmented and rich, needs only 1 swipe and you get beautiful opaque colour pay off. It has tugging and pulling effect on lips because of the stiffness; the best way to control this is to use a lip brush. MAC RIRI WOO gives 6 hours of wear time on me and fades slightly while munching/ heavy meal. If you are looking for the classic red lipstick to nail your look, this is it! The packaging itself looks very beautiful. The signature of Rihanna on the packaging and on the bullet is something you never wanna miss.

4) LIMECRIME RED VELVETTINE

My lust for Red overpowered all emotions when I saw swatches of Limecrime RED Velvetine! This is my staple shade. I am in love with my liquid lipsticks and definitely look forward to buy more. RED Velvetine is described as –perfect matte red! It is rich and velvety, like petals of a rose. Utterly Addictive!  These Velvetines are very famous all over the world and I can see why. It is a lipstick in form of liquid, looks like gloss but set as velvetty matte. This is a real matte formula with velvety finish. It stays on for almost whole day unless you remove it yourself. The formula is smudge-proof, Kiss proof, ridiculously long wearing. Although it dries as completely matte but doesn’t dry my lips out.  There is no fading, no smudging, and no smearing …NO transferring at all!!!

It is liquid which sets into matte finish after 5-6 seconds of application. It has an incredible silky smooth texture, glides over lips like a dream. It has a great pigmentation and goes fully opaque in just one swipe. If you get a chance to grab it, do not miss.

5) MAC GLAM LIPSTICK

MAC Glam to me is a perfect cool toned blue red. MAC Glam is another stunning shade from MAC by Request Collection (never launched here in India) another alternative to this shade is MAC RED from permanent collection. MAC describes it as a “vivid, bright pink-red” with a Matte finish. It is medium-dark pinkish red with strong blue undertones to it. Very bright and bold shade for the fall.

Again the matte finish provides opaque coverage and nice colour pay off. It has impressive 6-7 hours of staying power on me with slight fading around the inner side of my lips. It leaves a strong pinkish-purple tint on lips which I love; you don’t have to think of re-application. It is matte but the formula is very creamy which makes application easier.
